Energy Raising Meditation: The Heart-Light Practice I Use


Some mornings my mind wakes up before I do.

It starts throwing random thoughts like popcorn: Did I send that email? Did I say the wrong thing? Why is my brain replaying 2014 right now? Then I try to “meditate” and suddenly I’m thinking about stuff that isn’t even real. Like a cat peeing on the carpet… even though I don’t have a cat.

That’s why I like an energy raising meditation that’s simple, physical, and hard to mess up. No complicated steps. No perfect silence required. Just a steady breath, a warm heart, and a clear feeling.

Because when my energy lifts, everything gets easier. My choices get cleaner. My reactions get smaller. I stop chasing life and start receiving it.

Why An Energy Raising Meditation Works So Fast

Here’s the secret most people miss: the fastest way to change your life is to change your state.

This is how to raise your vibration to manifest in real life: change the signal you are broadcasting before you ask life to echo it back. 

Not your “plans.” Not your “logic.” Your state.

If I’m in a state of stress, I can say all the right affirmations and still feel like the universe has me on hold. But when I shift into love, gratitude, and ease, I start moving like someone who’s already supported.

That’s what an energy raising meditation does for me. It gets me out of my head and back into my body. And when I’m back in my body, I can feel what’s real: I’m here. I’m breathing. I’m alive. And that means I have power again.

I also notice something else: when I’m in a higher state, I naturally let go of resistance. I stop trying to force the outcome. I stop squeezing the future with white knuckles. And I start allowing the next step to show up.

The Beginner Setup That Makes This Easy

You don’t need a perfect room. You don’t need candles. You don’t need to sit like a statue on top of a mountain.

You just need two things:

1) A position you can keep for a few minutes.
Sit comfortably with your spine straight, or lie down if that keeps you from fidgeting. The goal is not “posture points.” The goal is “I can stay here without fighting my body.”

2) A decision that this is allowed to be simple.
A lot of people quit meditation because they turn it into a test. They think, If I have thoughts, I failed.

No. Thoughts are normal. Thoughts are often just old habits doing their thing. It helps to remember that thoughts do not create your reality nearly as much as the state you return to after they pass. 

What matters is what you do next: do you chase the thought, or do you come back to the breath?

That’s the whole game.

Part of learning the truth about meditation is realizing that thoughts can show up without ruining the practice.


Set Up Your Space For An Energy Raising Meditation

Before you begin, pick a short window of time. Five minutes is enough. Ten minutes is great. You can go longer if you want, but I’d rather you do five minutes every day than thirty minutes once a month.

Now do this:

  • Sit or lie down.

  • Let your shoulders drop.

  • Close your eyes, or keep them slightly open if that feels better.

  • Decide on a simple breath pattern: inhale for 4, exhale for 4.

That’s it.

And one more thing: if your mind tries to negotiate with you, just smile. Your mind negotiates with everyone. It’s not personal.

The Heart-Light Practice: Energy Raising Meditation Step by Step

Now let’s do the actual practice.

Start breathing in for 4 seconds.
Then breathing out for 4 seconds.

Inhale… 1, 2, 3, 4.Exhale… 1, 2, 3, 4.

Do that a few rounds.

Now bring your attention to your heart. Not your thoughts about your heart. The area in your chest.

On your next inhale, imagine a warm gold light in your heart. Like a small glowing orb.

As you breathe in, that gold light grows.
As you breathe out, you let go.

Inhale… the gold light expands.
Exhale… let go.

Keep going:

  • Breathing in love

  • Breathing out resistance

  • Breathing in warmth

  • Breathing out tension

After a few breaths, imagine that gold light spreading beyond your chest. It fills your shoulders. It fills your arms. It moves through your stomach. It reaches your neck and face.

Then picture it expanding beyond your body, like a soft field around you.

And as that’s happening, here’s the key: don’t try to “see it perfectly.” Just intend it. Your body understands intention.

That is often the moment you start to feel energy without forcing the image to be perfect. 

Now I add a simple idea that changes everything for me:

The universe loves an open cup.

When I’m clinging, I’m closed.
When I’m controlling, I’m tense.
When I’m forcing, I’m basically telling life, I don’t trust you.

So with every exhale, I practice being an open cup.

And with every inhale, I receive.

If you want words to guide the feeling, use something like:

  • Thank you, universe.

  • I am allowing.

  • I am receiving.

  • I am supported.

Then keep breathing. Keep letting the gold light grow.

This is the heart of an energy raising meditation: I’m not begging for a different life while living in the same emotional state. I’m rehearsing the state I want to live from.

And the more often I practice that state, the more normal it becomes.

You are learning to feel it before you have it, which is often the moment your outer life starts catching up to your inner one.


When Your Mind Wanders (And It Will), Do This

At some point, your brain will throw another thought at you.

It might be serious. It might be hilarious. It might be something like, Did I leave the stove on in 2009?

Here’s what I do: I label it gently.

  • “Thinking.”

  • “Planning.”

  • “Worrying.”

  • “Remembering.”

Then I come back to one of these anchors:

  • The rise and fall of my stomach

  • The air moving through my nostrils

  • The warmth in my chest

  • The gold light expanding

You are not your thoughts. You’re the one noticing them.

And once you remember that, meditation stops being a fight and starts being a freedom.

Close With Gratitude: Energy Raising Meditation That Sticks

Near the end, I like to finish with one question:

How grateful can I feel right now?

Not fake gratitude. Not “I should be grateful.” Real gratitude.

So I take a deeper inhale than before.
Then a deeper exhale than before.

And I name one thing I’m thankful for.

It can be small:

  • clean water

  • a bed

  • a friend who texts back

  • the fact that my heart is beating without me doing anything

Then I take another breath and find another thing.

Inhale: gratitude.
Exhale: let go.

This is where the whole practice becomes an energy raising meditation that actually changes your day. Because gratitude puts you in the frequency of “I have,” not “I lack.”

And when you move through life from “I have,” you naturally spot opportunities you would miss in “I lack.”

Before you open your eyes, let yourself feel this:

All is well.
You made it this far.
You’re here.
And good things can meet you where you are.

Open your eyes when you’re ready.

No fireworks needed. If you feel 5% more calm, that’s a win. If you feel 20% more open, that’s a big win. Stack enough small wins, and you start living in a different reality.

If you want a simple way to make this consistent: do this once a day for 7 days. Same breath. Same heart focus. Same gratitude close. Let your nervous system learn a new normal.

That’s how I use an energy raising meditation to bring my energy back home, and it’s how I stop asking life for permission to feel good.
